Gold Team Win Big in 4-0 Shutout vs. MOBA

This afternoon the Gold Team rebounded from their draw last weekend with a big 4-0 shutout against MOBA Upper 90.

The opening goal was an own goal created by Alex Varghese's dangerous cross into the box from the right flank. The center back was unfortunate to head the ball into his own net, but it opened the scoring nonetheless (1-0).

Sophomore, Jordan Richardson doubled the lead after getting on the end of Robert Pierrard's through ball, cutting inside past the sliding defender, and shooting past the goalkeeper with his weak foot (2-0).

Yanni Angelides created and scored the third goal of the game on his own. After beating the opposing right back with pace and driving past another with some tricky step-overs, Angelides slotted into the lower right corner for 3-0.

Evan Troop rounded off the scoring with a simple tap-in finish after combining in midfield and racing over 40-yards into the box to finish off Alex Varghese's cross into the area (4-0).

As for the shutout, the backline continuously neutralized the opposing team's attacks on goal throughout the match and remained resolute for the full 90 minutes. Seth Daly and Reed Blevins locked down the central areas of defense while Alex Varghese and Justin Pisarski defended the flanks and contributed in the attack.

Overall, a game of many positives for the Gold Team. They look to continue their undefeated run against the GA Revolution U21's next Sunday.
