Gold Team Best AFU South Elite 5-1!

The Gold Team had its season opener this afternoon as they took on AFU South Elite away from home. The match was a fantastic showing of attacking play as they thrashed their opponents 5-1.

Shortly after kick-off, sophomore, Robert Pierrard opened the scoring only seconds into the match by intercepting a loose ball in the opponents half and slotting past the keeper for 1-0.

Joshua Burr doubled the Gold Team’s lead after chasing down the goalkeeper who coughed up the ball for Burr to slot home easily (2-0).

Freshman, Evan Troop added to the scoring when he ran onto a nicely chipped through ball and lobbed the keeper in style to make it 3-1.

In the second half, Jonathan Leo skillfully dribbled past the keeper and before the opposing defense collapsed on him, played Nick Rath in space, who, with a cheeky back heel, scored in the open net for 4-1.

Lastly, for 5-1, after collecting a loose ball, Matt Bishop rounded the goalkeeper and fired home to seal the victory.

The Gold Team is ecstatic to start off with such a commanding win. They look to replicate today’s stellar performance next weekend against Sting Black.
