Gold Team Wins 5-1 Over MOBA Upper 90

The Gold Team put on another fine display of soccer this Sunday morning with a 5-1 rout over MOBA Upper 90. The defense locked down opposing strikers and the team looked dangerous going forward with every touch in possession.

The first half ended just 1-0 after Cody Schoenfuss found the net with a well-placed tap-in.

After the first half came to an end, the team came out strong by scoring early with another poacher's finish from Jonathan Leo, adding to his scoring tally in the past few games. Omar Ahmed was first to the ball off the corner, heading into Leo's area where he had the entire goal to aim for, allowing for the easy finish.

Towards the latter portion of the half, Jordan Richardson made it 3-0, then 4-0, finding the net twice with a classy volley over the keeper and a simple strike after a skillful dribbling run, extending his goal scoring form as well.

Soon after, Schoenfuss scored his second of the game, following up Leo's 18-yard shot for the easy tap-in to make it 5-0.

The team put on a spectacular performance, but no individual was as quality as our Man of the Match, by some margin, Mason Stoever. Typically a starting full back for the Gold Team, Stoever was employed at goalkeeper for the match as the team was unfortunate to travel without their normal goalkeepers.

When called upon, Stoever registered 4-5 crucial saves including a few shots within the 18-yard box. Easily making him the choice for Man of the Match.

The Gold Team will be back in action March 3rd against Relegators FC as the season begins to come to a close, however, the White Team are scheduled to play their home opener against Georgia State University this upcoming Friday night at E. Roe Stamps IV Field next to the CRC.
