The White Team picked up where they left off after a successful Spring campaign with a solid 3-1 win over the reserves of Division 2 side, Oglethorpe University. While only a preseason match, the White Team looked in good form with everyone rostered getting time to play.
Starting midfielder, Makram Chahine, showed great class in his two goals, scoring once in each half. The first, coming off of Jack Fitton's pass to the 18-yard box, where Chahine fired on his favorite left foot for 1-0. A curling effort into the top right corner. The second goal came from Paul Kondratyev's corner kick that set up nicely for Chahine to volley into the back of the net, doubling the lead.
The third and final goal came in the last play of the game where newly joined center back, Matt Weist, played a deep ball towards the corner flag. The ball was initially intercepted by an Oglethorpe center back, however, he failed to clear the ball completely and Sophomore, Jordan Richardson was there to tap the ball into the net, sealing the game at 3-1.
Even with the heat beating down on the turf, the White Team performed at a high level, moving the ball around quickly and attacking with intent. New faces Alex Varghese, Craig Nyazema, Matt Weist, and Sam Westacott all registered impressive debuts for the club team as well.
The White Team takes on Emory at home next Friday night, looking to kick the regular season off with another impressive win.
