White Team Silences the Bulldogs with 4-1 Win

The White Team continued their win streak this morning after defeating their rivals, UGA, 4-1 in Athens. Aside from bragging rights for the year, the win makes the White Team heavy favorites to qualify for regionals if they hadn’t already.

Striker, Michael Sullivan made it 1-0 early on after Jordan Richardson’s cross-field pass setup Bailey Goldstein’s driving run into the box. Goldstein’s excellent first touch and quick feet took him past his man where he could lay off to Sullivan for the close range strike.

In the second half, Goldstein earned his side a penalty after skipping past his man inside the box before being brought down by a late challenge. Richardson took the spot kick and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, restoring the White Team’s lead. (2-1)

Richardson scored his second after skillfully dipping away from his closest marker, driving towards the heart of the defense, and then curling his shot to find the lower right corner. (3-1)

Sullivan completed his brace after finishing from close range in similar fashion to his first goal. Richardson’s diagonal pass to Goldstein allowed the freshman to drive at his man once again and spot Sullivan inside the box. While the goalkeeper managed to get a hand to the effort, the power of the shot forced it over the line, making the score 4-1 after full time.

The exciting win marks the end of regular season play for the White Team this year, finishing off with a 5-1 record.

That said, regionals remains in the near future for the White Team and the Gold Team still has plenty to play for this season in the ADASL. They take on Buckhead SC tomorrow morning at 10 AM.
