White Team Dominates Mercer in 5-0 Win

The White Team traveled to Mercer University this morning and returned victorious with a 5-0 win over their opposition. The team dominated possession and created chances on demand, allowing four different players to stamp themselves on the score sheet.

Zane Stokesberry opened the scoring in the first half after racing onto the end of Jordan Richardson's through-ball and lifting the ball over the outstretched goalkeeper for 1-0.

Troy Espiritu made it 2-0 before halftime after defender, Nick Green successfully won the ball from Mercer's defense, drove to the byline and found Espiritu waiting in space to finish off the move towards goal.

Stokesberry completed his brace after providing the finishing touches to Ethan Michel's clever pass from midfield. The quick one-two-touch move towards goal from various attackers and midfielders left Mercer defenseless as Stokesberry slotted past the goalkeeper for 3-0.

Evan Troop made it 4-0 after intercepting Mercer's pass out of defense and driving towards goal. Troop did well to collect the ball, beat his man, and calmly place his shot past the keeper for the fourth goal of the afternoon.

Midfielder, Jack Fitton provided the fifth and final goal from Bailey Goldstein's corner kick. Goldstein's whipped cross to the near post was met by Fitton's right foot as he flicked the ball goalwards from six yards, leaving the goalkeeper no chance to react. (5-0)

The White Team will look to carry their momentum to Emory as they play away on Friday, Sept. 24th.
