Gold Team Fire Six Past Majestic Red

The Gold Team was involved in more ADASL action this Sunday morning with a matchup between mid-table side, Majestic Red. In need of a strong rebound from the previous weekend's loss, the Gold Team and its new January reinforcements stepped up to the challenge and delivered emphatically.

Nearly 20 minutes into the first half Seth Daly broke the deadlock with a strong header from Jordan Richardson's cross into the box. Fighting past his marker to time the jump, the tall center back made the finish over the keeper look easy for the game's opening goal (1-0).

In the second half, Gold took their chances clinically, scoring five times within the 45 minute period. The second goal came after Richardson's whipped cross into the box found Josh Burr at the far post, allowing Burr to setup newly joined striker, Leon Shi, for his first club goal ever (2-0).

Shortly after, Shi was involved again as he linked with Trevor Hyman in a string of passes towards goal. The fluid passing between the two ended with Hyman's driven finish to the bottom right corner (3-0).

Freshman, Evan Troop, provided the fourth goal after Richardson cut inside from the right flank and picked out Troop's run into the box. Troop did extremely well to receive with a man on his back, spin onto his right foot, and fire past the goalkeeper for the game's fourth goal (4-0).

The final two goals of the match were finished off by striker, Nick Rath. In his first, Rath's run toward the box was found by Hyman from midfield, leaving the striker alone in space to fire into the lower right corner (5-0). In Rath's second goal, Richardson's corner kick was headed back across the face of goal by Seth Daly, leaving the striker to finish from close range (6-0).

While the goals were a plenty in the second half, the defensive work from the team, and back line especially, was consistent throughout the match. The constant will to win every ball allowed the attack to do what it does best, and the scoreline reflects both of those efforts.

The Gold Team will hope to carry today's success to next Sunday where they face MOBA Knights on the 26th.
